Day in the Life: Stephne

If you have ever visited ONE Dine at One World Observatory, you may have been served food or a drink created by Stephne. Stephne has been a longtime employee of the ONE Dine family since joining in June 2015. 

Name: Stephne Duffy

Title: Bartender

Years of employment at ONE Dine: Almost 10 years

Fun fact about you: I love rollercoasters, but don’t like elevators, but the elevator here is the best in the world – it’s so smooth!

What’s a typical day like for you?

    Stephne: In a typical day, I meet with people all over the world, get to know them, where they’re from, their families. My guests are my number one priority. That’s my favorite part, but it does get very busy here, so when I get a chance to speak with my guests, I do.

What is the most rewarding/favorite thing about your job?

    Stephne:  The most rewarding thing about my job and the absolute favorite thing about my job, besides my coworkers and the building of course, is when I have recurring guests coming in. I love when my guests send other guests here. I’ve never met them before, but then they send friends, and the kicker is they also have never met me; however, they have a picture of me. They go, “is this you?” – and I say, “that is me, different hair, different lips, but that is me!” Then we create a relationship that way.

Can you share a funny story about your job?

    Stephne:  We have Christmas parties every year. Our employers bless us to show their appreciation. Now we have a circus party upstairs, and it was just amazing and fun and relaxing just to see all the different costumes that everyone came up with. We see each other every day, but when you see us in character and everyone just trying to take the work out of work and just be themselves, that was fun.

Where is your favorite place on campus?

    Stephne:  I don’t have one - if I walk around this building, there are several different areas that you can see from. I can’t pick a favorite one, it’s like picking which time of day I like the most. I just love showing the guests points that they I think they would enjoy also around campus.
